Law Enforcement Assistance Fund (LEAF) Charities

SNLE Memorial 2009 066Established in 2008, LVPPA Metro Charities, now known as the Law Enforcement Assistance Fund (LEAF), is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that helps the surviving families of Southern Nevada law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. Following a line-of-duty death, the charity reaches out to the families of all former members of the Las Vegas Police Protective Association, including Metropolitan police officers, deputy city marshals and municipal court marshals.

Through fundraising events, payroll deductions and corporate and personal donations, LVPPA Metro Charities raises and collects funds to give survivors financial assistance with unforeseen needs, higher education opportunities, birthdays and holiday gifts. All proceeds go directly to survivor families in need. Following a tragedy, the goal is to help families get back on their feet, care for themselves to achieve self-sufficiency and regain and maintain hope for a positive future.

Under the oversight of the board of directors, the charity also contributes funds to children’s and LVPPA members’ athletic teams and other activities and organizations.

The charity relies on donations to remain solvent and ensure that survivor families are well cared for. All active and retired LVPPA members, philanthropic organizations and the Southern Nevada community at large are encouraged to donate one or more of the following ways:
