Meet Kira. She is 5 years old and for her birthday, instead of presents she asked for donations for the LVPPA charity - LEAF (Law Enforcement Assistance Fund).
Kira did not know anyone at the association and had only heard of what our charity represented. Incredibly, Kira raised $112.00.
The association was blown away with this generous and selfless act. This evening the Executive Board of the LVPPA surprised Kira at her Taekwondo lessons. We presented her with her very own custom made LVPPA Police Tackle Football Jersey.
On behalf of the members of the LVPPA and the Police and Corrections Officers of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, thank you Kira, your act of kindness and charity is an example of excellence.
Thank you to Yang Masters taekwondo www.yang-masters.com and to Grand Master Yang, Pok Sun @yangcandosocanyou for allowing us to take over his studio for a short time.
The LEAF Charity supports the children of fallen officers. To learn more please visit our website at LVPPA.com.

79 years ago today, Clark County Deputy Sheriff Jack London was struck and killed by a drunk driver as he and his partner attempted to assist a person on Boulder Highway. The driver fled the scene and was later apprehended. Deputy London was 46 years old and had served with the Clark County Sheriff's Department for 10 months. He was survived by his wife. We will never forget your sacrifice. God speed.

Meet Kelly Sweeney. Kelly came to the LVPPA in October 2015, and as the Director of Employee Relations, she represents members in discipline and grievance proceedings, CRB interactions, and represents members in Labor Management Boards and Pre-termination hearings.
She is also responsible for collective bargaining for the City Marshals and Sergeants, and assists on the negotiating team for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Prior to arriving at the LVPPA, Kelly was in Metro’s Labor Relations unit for almost 15 years, retiring as the Director.
Kelly fights non stop to protect our membership, and we are lucky to have her.
