Videos: Inmates Use Microwave to Light Uniforms on Fire, 4 COs Injured

April 17, 2017 by 911media

To all our officers that work ccdc. This is exactly why we do not want to see coffee pots and micro waves at ccdc. This type of risk is far to great for our officers to have to deal with. No matter what the jail administration thinks! We will continue to fight against them!

Surveillance footage capturing a disturbance at the Cook County Jail on Saturday has been released.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the inmates were in the jail’s super maximum security division when the incident occurred. The prisoners used a microwave to ignite a wick and set their jumpsuits on fire.

Corrections officers responded to the scene as smoke began to fill the unit. Two officers were injured securing the tier. Two other COs were treated for smoke inhalation. All four are currently recovering from their injuries.
