MANORVILLE, N.Y. — An officer is being hailed as a hero after he jumped into a moving car to save a child.
Officer Joe Goss said he saw Maria Lagatta, 37, driving slowly on the expressway and tried to pull her over, NBC New York reported.
Goss said he suspected she was on drugs and gasped when saw her toddler in the backseat.
“I roll down my window, and the motorist rolled down her window as well,” Goss told the news station. “I told her to pull over, and with the window down she told me, ‘I can’t.’”
