On December 15, 2024, Sergeant Elio Diaz of the Charlotte County (FL) Sheriff’s Office was killed in the line of duty. He was shot while conducting a traffic stop.

Elio was 40 years old and had been a cop for 11 years. He is survived by his wife and four children. Godspeed, brother.
